About

Louis A. Corey opened Mr Corey’s Fine Footwear in August of 1975 with the intention of bringing footwear for men and women in an array of styles and sizes. Lou (as he prefers to be called) had an extensive background in the footwear industry.

As a young college student Lou sold shoes at one of Terre Haute’s finest shoe stores, Ben Becker Shoe Company located at 643 Wabash Ave in downtown Terre Haute. He later joined The Meis Department Store as a shoe salesman and quickly advanced into the management position and later to General Manager of all footwear departments of the Meis Store through out the State of Indiana and Illinois. After faithfully serving The Meis company for 16 years, Lou decided to open a small shoe store at 9 south 7th Street specializing in fashion and comfort with emphasis on hard to find sizes. Corey’s Fine Footwear as the store is called today continues after 35 years, to serve the Wabash Valley with the same enthusiasm, old fashion service and professionalism; thus creating a niche that has satisfied the customer’s needs to find footwear that he or she can be proud of.
